Pauline V. "Baba" Staryarsky, 91, of Hunker, fell asleep peacefully Friday, Jan. 11, 2019. She was born Oct. 13, 1927, to Andrew and Mary (Lehen) Petrus, and married her true love, Joseph Staryarsky, Oct. 14, 1950. Joseph and Pauline were married for 65 years when Joseph preceded her in death in 2016. Pauline was a homemaker and cared about every individual she met or heard of. She loved bingo, the lottery, casinos and sweets. Pauline was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church and its rosary society. Her life was dedicated to loving and caring for her family, friends and faithful companion, Jake. Pauline was preceded in death by her sisters, Vern, Ann, Betty and Margaret; as well as her brother, Andrew; and her infant son, Michael. Pauline is survived by her six children, Joseph P. Staryarsky, wife Christina (Maryland) and their daughter, Nicole (Maryland); Edward P. Staryarsky, wife Gloria (Belle Vernon) and their son, Edward (New Jersey) and daughter, Michaelene (Texas); Patricia A. Shannon (Greensburg) and her son, John, girlfriend Chevy (Missouri) and her daughter, Jennifer, boyfriend Tyler (Greensburg); Ann P. Chochran, husband Darren (Herminie), son Erik, wife Cara (Herminie) and son, Matthew, wife Kristen (Irwin); William A. Staryarsky, wife Donna (Massachusetts) and their daughter, Lisa, husband, Zach (Massachusetts) and son, Andrew (Massachusetts); and Thomas C. Staryarsky, wife, Stacy (Hunker) and daughter, Alyssa, husband Jared (Jeannette); and great-grandchildren, Lordyn, Peyton, Paige, Matthew Jr., Ethan, Maya, Baby Swanson and Ryker. Finally, Pauline was survived by Elizabeth "Betty," husband John Sterba (Youngwood); and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Lois, Jen and the third-floor nurses at Latrobe Hospital for their compassion and care.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, at the C RICHARD MCCAULEY FUNERAL HOME INC., 101 S. Fourth St., Youngwood. Rosary will be recited at 3:15 p.m., followed by a Parastas service at 3:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Divine liturgy will be held at 10:30 a.m.. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019, at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Greensburg, with interment to follow at St. John Byzantine Catholic Cemetery in Scottdale.
