Beverly Ann Check

May 27, 1937 ~ August 13, 2023 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Obituary

With the heaviest of hearts, the family of Beverly Ann Check announces the tranquil passing of a truly gentle soul into our memories within her home in Hunker, surrounded by the love and care of her family on August 13th, 2023 at 86 years old.  She was born at her family home in Adamsburg, PA to the late George Parnell and Myrtle Parnell (née Oplinger) on May 27th, 1937 where she grew up with her sisters Nancy Lewis (née Parnell), of Jeannette, and the late Bernice Puklovic.  She attended Sewickley High School where she graduated in 1957.  In 1960, she met the man she would spend 51 years with and who would eventually precede her in death, John A. Check, to whom they shared the joy of two surviving daughters: Faith Lynn Rance, of Wyano and Kimberly Ann Check, of Hunker.  She dedicated a large portion of her life working a plethora of jobs, including a long stint at Westinghouse and a local sewing factory. However the former Westmoreland Regional Hospital would be her longest employer, spending 22 years there before her subsequent retirement.  During her formidable time she relished in traveling to numerous sights across the eastern seaboard and beyond on extensive road trips, camping at woodland cabins and popular beaches with family, meticulously caring for her gardens to ensure her canning storage was always full, and the diligent upkeep of a home where she would regularly cook and host family gatherings.  She was beloved by all that met her and knew the unending depths of her kindness; especially her two grandchildren Logan Lon Steiner, of New Stanton and Rachel Lyn Steiner, of Salem, OR, who she adored and loved unconditionally.  As a lifelong Christian she was a devout member of the United Methodist Church of New Stanton and attended as frequently as able all the while maintaining an unwavering faith throughout her daily life.  Among those also close to her who mourn her loss are Colin Rance, husband of Faith, of Wyano, Charles (Butch) Lewis, husband of Nancy, of Jeannette as well as their children William Kemerer, Michelle Zona (née Lewis) and David Lewis, Kirsten Babinger, wife of Logan, of New Stanton and Mario Gutierrez, husband of Rachel, of Salem, OR.  Christian Rance, son of Colin, of Everson and Roland Babinger, great-grandchild of Beverly, of New Stanton.  Debra Weibel, Betty Thompson, and Mary Lou Allmeyer, longtime close friends of Beverly.  We welcome all to celebrate a life well lived with family and friends at the C. Richard McCauley Funeral Home Inc. Thursday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm.  A funeral Service will be held at the funeral home Friday at 1:30pm. Interment to follow at Westmoreland Memorial Park.
