Elmer M. Knizner, 91, of Youngwood, died Friday October 6,2023 at home. He was born September 27,1932 in Youngwood. A son of the late John and Mary (Yakanich) Knizner. He was a veteran of the US Coast Guard and a member of Holy Cross Church. Prior to his retirement, he had been a supervisor at Powerex Inc. in Youngwood for 32 years. He was also an active member of the Latrobe Art Club and Norwin Art league where he taught watercolor classes and displayed paintings in exhibits for over 20 years. He loved to play all sports in his younger years. He enjoyed drawing, painting, reading the comics, watching sports, telling jokes and shopping. His favorite places were Barnes & Noble and Chick-fil-A. Elmer is survived by his loving wife, Marie Knizner; his children, David Knizner, and wife, Natalie, of Bridgeville and Amy Sudol, and husband, Bob, of Annopolis, MD.; his grandchildren, John Knizner, Kristine Knizner and Michael Sudol. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Knizner, of Youngwood and several nieces and nephews. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, Oct. 8, from 3-6 PM. in the C. Richard McCauley Funeral Home Inc. 101 S 4th Street. Youngwood. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, October 9, at 10 AM at Holy Cross Church, 711 Depot Street, Youngwood.
