George E Markle, 82, of Greensburg, passed away on Saturday April 22, 2023. He was born on February 4, 1941, in Hempfield, the son of the late Edward and Pearl (Sweitzer) Markle. George was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran. He retired from Wabtec Corporation after many years of hard work. He was a member of Harrold Zion Lutheran Church, Lloydsville Sportsman's and the American Legion in Manor. George was an avid bowler and enjoyed spending time in the outdoors. He is survived by his second wife, Judith Markle, his children, Brian Markle, and his wife, Amy, of Latrobe and Chris Markle, and his wife, Joanna, of Greensburg; his beloved grandchildren, Mackenzie, Hannah, Evelyn and Lillian. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Rob Shoaf, and his wife, Terri, of New Jersey and Gretchen Goodall, and her husband Tim, of New York; his sisters, Carla Markle, of New Stanton, Donna Serbinjak, of Evanstown, Pa., Ann Hoburn, of Hunker, Nancy DiLorretta, of New Stanton, Betty Nalepa, of Burbank, Oh., Wanda DeBair, of Indiana, Pa. and Rebecca May, of Latrobe; his brothers, Billie Markle, of Hagerstown, Md., Paul Markle, of Greensburg, Gilbert Markle, of Greensburg and Francis "Geno" Markle, of Hagerstown, Md. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathy (Shincovich) Markle. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wed. April 26, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, in the C. Richard McCauley Funeral Home Inc. 101 S 4th Street. Youngwood. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 27 at 10 am, in Harrold Zion Lutheran Church. 671 Baltzer Meyer Pike, Greensburg. Please go directly to church. Interment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
