James R Myers Sr, 98, of New Stanton, passed away on Monday January 13, 2025. He was born on February 2, 1926, in New Stanton, the son of the late William and Hannah (McMeeken) Myers. He graduated from Youngwood High School in 1943. After graduation he served during World War II in the United States Army Air Force as Sergeant. After the service, he attended Connley Trade School. Prior to retirement, he was employed at Brown Boveri and Piad as a tool maker. He was also a night school welding instructor for 34 years at C.T.C in New Stanton from 1969 until 2003. James taught Sunday School for many years at the former United Methodist Church in New Stanton. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Youngwood. He delivered Meals on Wheels for many years with his wife, Jane. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his son, James Jr. on August 18, 2015, his sisters, Mary Ruth Klingensmith Castabile and Dorothy Trout, his brother, William C. Myers and his son in law, Michael Peck. He is survived by his loving wife, Jane (Summy) Myers, with whom he celebrated 75 years of marriage.; his daughter, Colleen Peck, of Greensburg and his daughter in law, Margarita, of West Virginia; his three grandchildren, Jeannie DePaola, and her husband, Michael, Stephen Peck, and his wife, Sarah, and Erin Peck, and fiancé, Phil Bush; his seven great grandchildren, John DePaola, and his wife, Florencia, Alyssa and Lauren DePaola, Chase and Archer Peck, and Sayde and Shelby Bush. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, Jan. 19, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM, in the C. Richard McCauley Funeral Home Inc. 101 S 4th Street, Youngwood. A funeral Service will be held on Monday, Jan. 20, at 11 AM in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg.
