James Oplinger Jr Obituary

James Charles Oplinger, Jr., 83 years old, of Mt. Pleasant, PA, passed away on Monday August 1, 2022

He was born on September 10,1938 in Greensburg, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Janet (Patterson) Oplinger, and a sister, Bernice Puklavec.

Prior to retirement, Jim worked at DME of Youngwood.  He was a machinist/Inspector for 37 years. After retirement from DME, he and his wife Judy, worked for MobilityWorks in Monroeville as a driver and instructor on how to operate handicapped accessible vans until May 2021.

During his younger years, he drove bus for private school field trips that included Washington, DC, Baltimore Inner Harbor and other trips of a lifetime for the students.

He attended Charter Oak United Methodist Church. He would drive Sunday School buses bringing the little ones to church each week and took Triple Teens on many overnight excursions.

He served on the church board for many years and served in many capacities, including installing plumbing in the new parsonage and academy.  He was very devoted to his church and his God.

He was always very active and loved to snowmobile and waterski!  He loved his place at the Yough and all the wonderful memories spent there with his grandsons.

Jim could fix ANYTHING and was always the one to call if you couldn't figure out how to do something.  He would help anyone do anything at all.  He even dabbled in architecture when he drew plans to build his barn with upcycled materials- before it was even a trend!

Jim loved the 5 trips so Hawaii with his wife, and the many visits to Disney World and other yearly vacations with his family.  If you asked him if he wanted to go somewhere he said, "Let's go!"

Jim will be profoundly missed by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Judy A. (Breegle) Oplinger of Mt. Pleasant, his daughter, Wendy Rounds (Kevin), grandsons, Patrick Rounds (Alicia) and Sean Rounds (Katie), sister, Margaret Hardy (Ronald) and brother-in-law, Chuck Puklavec and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Redstone Hospice Homecare for wonderful care.

If love alone could have kept you here, you would have lived forever!
