Janet R. Sobota

Janet R. Sobota, 96 formerly of Armbrust, died Sunday September 3, 2023 at St Anne Home of Greensburg.  She was born in Hempfield Twp March 24, 1927 a daughter of the late Preston E. and Elizabeth E. (Albright) Prinkey.  She is survived by two children Henry J Sobota Jr and wife Diane, Jennie E. DePalma and husband Daniel. two grandchildren Timothy J. Sobota & wife Aja, Maryann R Sobota and husband Joseph Spivak.  Three step grandchildren Daniel DePalma (Shelley), Donald DePalma (Jackie), Jason DePalma. Two step great grandchildren Donte DePalma, Angelo DePalma, special adopted granddaughter Sonja Epifano & husband John and Sonja's children Michael and Hannah. Besides her parents, Janet was predeceased by the love of her life, her Marine, Henry J. Sobota Sr in 2001, two infant children Adam in 1948 and Jean Ann in 1958.  She was the last remaining sibling and the baby of the Prinkey family.  Her siblings: Evelyn Brown, Gladys (Sally) Kettren, Preston E. Prinkey Jr, Wayne Prinkey, Wilbur Prinkey and Betty Jane Lowstetter.  Janet and Henry lived a beautiful, loving life on "Honeymoon Hill".  Together since the age of 16 and married for 54 "wonderful" years.  Mom loved chickens.  100 peeps every spring and occasionally had to assist Dad to chase our beef and get them back in the fence.  Most of all Mom was a devote catholic. A member of Holy Cross Church in Youngwood and also a member of the choir.  Her precious heart loved beyond us kids and Dad.  She nurtured all the cousins as well.  Our home was never quiet.  There was singing and dancing, lots of home cooked meals especially her spaghetti.  So much love and comfort to all of us.  Now Janet and Betty Jane can be harmonizing again. Friends will be received at the C. Richard McCauley Funeral Home Inc. Wednesday September 6, 2023 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm.  A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Cross Church Thursday September 7, 2023 at 10am. Interment to follow at Youngwood Cemetery.
