Jeanne M. Murray, 90, of Youngwood, PA passed away peacefully on November 19, 2024 while surrounded by family at St. Anne Home. She was born on June 5, 1934 in Jeannette, daughter of the late Michael P. and Stella C. (Brown) Miller. Jeanne grew up and went to school in Jeannette, PA until her senior year in high school when her father transferred for work to Warren, Ohio. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School where she was homecoming queen. Jeanne married her high school sweetheart, James P. Murray on June 11, 1955 at Christ Our King Church in Warren, Ohio. Shortly after marriage the couple moved to Elizabethtown, Kentucky while her husband served in the U.S. Army at Fort Knox and Jeanne worked for the local newspaper. Later, they moved back to PA where they raised four children. Jeanne was very involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s schools and activities. Jeanne liked to travel; she enjoyed driving across the country with her husband and had many memorable family vacations. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Westmoreland County Manor and Holy Cross Church. Jeanne enjoyed sewing and was an incredible seamstress. She loved to cook and bake family recipes including her delicious nut rolls and homemade ravioli. Jeanne liked to garden, and her yard was always filled with beautiful flowers. Jeanne was a member of Holy Cross Church where she served on the Women’s Guild and chaired the Irish booth for the church festivals. Jeanne retired from Holy Cross School where she was the beloved school secretary. She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, James P. Murray; four children, Catherine Miller and her husband, Lou, James P. Murray III and his wife, Sheila, Kelly Towse and her husband, Matthew, and Michael P. Murray; seven grandchildren, Jenna Miller, Louis (Nicole) Miller, James (Mackenzie) Murray, Joseph (Carolina) Murray, John Murray, Alexander Towse, William Towse, and great-granddaughter Olivia Murray. Family and friends will be received from 4 pm to 7 pm on November 22, 2024 at C. Richard McCauley Funeral Home Inc, 101 South Fourth Street, Youngwood. Funeral Mass will be at Holy Cross Church, Youngwood at 10 am on November 23, 2024 followed by interment at Greensburg Catholic Cemetery.
