John Garber III Obituary

John P Garber III, 73, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 10, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 19, 1951, in Avon Park, FL., the son of Barbara (Harrison) Garber, of Lakeland FL and the late John P. Garber Jr. John was a proud U.S. Navy veteran, having served on a submarine during the Vietnam Era. He retired as a Nuclear Engineer from Westinghouse after many years of hard work. He was a member of Centerline Church, the former Armbrust Wesleyan Church, in Hunker, where he was actively involved in leading worship services. John enjoyed helping his family, friends, and anyone in need with whatever they asked.  John was a talented musician, playing guitar and singing at his church on the worship team or leading his family in sing-alongs anytime they were gathered together. John also taught his daughter how to play the guitar, helping her follow in his footsteps as a worship leader.  In recent years, it was a special time seeing John share the stage with his daughter, Aubrey, on Sundays at her church during worship.  For the last fourteen years, John especially loved spending time with his beloved grandchildren, with whom he adored immensely, riding bikes, enjoying weekend sleepovers with late-night movies, and attending their dance recitals and taekwondo matches . He is survived by the love of his life for 52 years, Kay (Powers) Garber; his children, Randi Nelson, and husband, Holland, of Pittsburgh and his granddaughter Emma O'Brien of New York City, Paula Garber, of Greensburg and Aubrey Dulaney, and husband, Jeremiah, of Greensburg and his grandchildren, Tristan Dulaney and Willow Dulaney. John is also survived by his mother, Barbara (Harrison) Garber and his five siblings, Gwen Lansing (John), Sam Garber (Susan), Tom Garber (Barbara), Greg Garber (Sharon), and Amy Turpin (Bill), as well as many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Monday, Sept. 16, from 3-4 pm, with a Celebration of Life Service to follow, in the Centerline Church, 7790 State Route 819, Hunker. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Centerline Church.
