John Richard Makarsky Sr.

John Richard Makarsky Sr, 72, of Armbrust, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday January 3, 2022, in Excela Westmoreland Hospital. He was born on November 14, 1949, in Greensburg, the son of the late Michael and Albina (Zupanc) Makarsky. John was preceded in death by a brother, Michael A. Makarsky Jr. and a nephew Robert Wentzel. In his early years he worked for the Painters Local 409. When he wasn't painting, he was working on cars, motorcycles or basically anything that had an engine. He was an excellent mechanic and doing vehicle restoration. John was the go-to guy if anyone needed a hand or information. He was always willing to help. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, sitting around a campfire with family & friends, listening to music for hours, going on motorcycle rides and going to bluegrass festivals. John loved meeting people and swapping stories with them. His greatest love though was his family. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marilyn (Moore) Makarsky; his son, John Jr. (Dina) of Greensburg; his daughter, Nicole Sideris (Jason) of Clearwater, Fl.; his grandchildren, Madeline Irwin (Seth), Mollie and Kaleb Makarsky; two sisters, Marjorie (Bob) Wentzel of Greensburg and Dolores Makarsky of Jeannette; a sister in-law, Evelyn Makarsky of Greensburg; his two fur babies, his cats, Sweets & Big Guy; He will also be greatly missed by his many other family members and friends. John suffered for many years with pain and illness, and said his body was a medical mystery. In 2008 he decided to have his body donated to science so it could help other people in the future. Due to current events of Covid, the family were sadly unable to comply with his wishes. Upon his request, there will be no visitation or funeral. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at a later date.
