John Mitrik Obituary

John J Mitrik, 89, of Youngwood, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday February 6, 2026. He was born on August 1, 1936, in Greensburg, the son of the late John and Anna (Placko) Mitrik. John served in the Army National Guard and retired from Westinghouse, where he worked as a Drafter. He was Catholic by Faith and was a member of Holy Cross Church in Youngwood, where he served as a Lector. John was a talented woodworker, an avid bowler and also enjoyed gardening. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen (Knizner) Mitrik, his children, Marlene L. Hopper, and her husband, Andrew, of Citrus Springs, FL. and Theresa A. Martin, and her husband, Timothy, of McMurray; his grandchildren, Cody R. Griffin, and his wife, Ashley, Colin R. Griffin, and his girlfriend, Kasey Stevenson, and Jonathan JW Martin; his three great grandchildren, Owen, Cayden, and Cannon. John is also survived by his siblings, Mary Briercheck, of Cranberry, Paul Mitrik (Connie), of North Huntingdon, Carol Nalepa, of Fuquay-Varina, NC., and Joseph Mitrik (Linda), of Brook Park, OH. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, Feb. 9, from 2-4 PM, with a Blessing Service to follow, in the C. Richard McCauley Funeral Home Inc. 101 S 4th Street, Youngwood. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Anne Home, 685 Angela Drive, Greensburg, Pa. 15601
