John E. Niehenke, 88, of Mount Pleasant, passed away on Monday June 19, 2023. He was born on February 4, 1935, in Somerset, the son of the late John and Myrtle (Barron) Niehenke. John was a proud Navy Veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was the owner and operator of JJ Ornamental Welding and was also a member of the fly-fishing club, A.F.L.O.A.T. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Judith (Amend) Niehenke, of Mount Pleasant; his children, Edward G. Niehenke (Rhonda Jo), of Derry, Lori Ann Zidack, of Kent, CT., Kelly Niehenke (Kristin), of Mutual and Michael Niehenke (Kristen), of Mount Pleasant; his seven grandchildren and his three great grandchildren. John is also survived by his siblings, Jay Niehenke (Judy), of North Belle Vernon, Ray Niehenke (Shirley), of Greensburg, Helen DeForrest, of Greensburg and Betty Johns, of North Carolina. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his siblings, Ida Jane Nicholson, Myrtle Niehenke, Cora DeForrest, Patricia Niehenke, Buck Niehenke and Elmer Niehenke. Friends will be received from 10-11 Am., with a memorial service to follow with military honors accorded by the Armbrust Veterans, on Saturday, July 1, in the C. Richard McCauley Funeral Home Inc. 101 S 4th Street, Youngwood.
