Joseph J Blahovec

Joseph J Blahovec, 87, of Youngwood, passed away on Tuesday May 16, 2023. He was born on January 5, 1936, in Ambridge, PA., the son of the late Gabriel and Veronica (Hanko) Blahovec.  Joe was a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran, having served tours of duty at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C. and in the Republic of Korea. Prior to retirement, Joe worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over 32 years. He was a Life Member of the VFW Post #211, Youngwood and a member of Holy Cross Parish in Youngwood. He will be loved and missed by his children, Michael Blahovec and wife, Ellen, of Greensburg, Alan Blahovec and wife, Lisa, of Youngwood and Elizabeth Reger and husband, Kenneth, of Youngwood; his grandchildren, Danielle Hoge (Brian), Meghan Buzas (Chris), Julianne Horstman (Jordan), Joseph Glenn, Sara Karly, Zachary (Kelsey), Nicholas, Abigail, Benjamin and Cydney Blahovec; and his great grandchildren, Maddox, Kason, Jack, Hazel and Anna. Joe is also survived by his sister, Catherine Danko and his numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara (Wolfe) Blahovec; his brother, John Blahovec, his sister, Agnes Guidas, brother-in-law, Andy Guidas, sister-in-law, Marge Blahovec, and his brother-in-law, Dave Danko. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, May 21, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM., in the C. Richard McCauley Funeral Home Inc. 101 S 4th Street, Youngwood. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, May 22, at 10 AM. in the Holy Cross Parish, 711 Depot Street, Youngwood. Interment to follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park.
