Karen J Bussard

Karen Joan Bussard, 70, of Acme, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on November 3, 2021. She was born on July 21, 1951 in Greensburg, the daughter of James Bussard of Youngwood and the late Doris (Craig) Bussard. Karen graduated from Hempfield High School in 1969. After raising two children, she put herself through X-Ray school at Presbyterian Hospital, where she continued to work for 26 years. Karen "Mimi" never missed one of her grand kids events. From soccer, cheer and band concerts, she was there. Her dying wish was to dance at her grandson Michaels wedding, which she did on September 25. Karen was loved and will be missed by many but especially her family. Her father James Bussard of Youngwood; her daughter, Heather Alfery and her fiancé Rob; her son and daughter in law, Ben and Amy Alfery; her grand kids, whom she loved above and beyond, Michael Bosas and his wife, "girl" Jordan, "Original Jordan" Shana ("boy" Jordan); her sister, Linda Ruffo and husband Greg; her nephew Matthew Ruffo; her aunt Joanie Smith and her puppy Gizmo. Per Karen's request, there will be no viewing. She wants a "Celebration" of her life with fireworks to be scheduled at a later date. Special thanks to the staff at the ER/Frick Hospital and ICU Westmoreland hospital. Your care and compassion at this difficult time is truly appreciated. Karen wanted everyone to know how much she loved her family, friends, and her job. She had an eventful but ultimately, a happy life. She truly loved the peacefulness of living in the mountains and she hopes that she touched and somehow at least helped one person during her life.
