Lawrence G. Ahlborn (Larry), 80, of Youngwood, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Friday January 1, 2021. He was born November 4, 1940 in Mt. Pleasant PA, a son of William H. Ahlborn and Lucille Loucks Ahlborn. He dedicated his life to his music ministry, playing piano and singing the gospel since 1962. He was very proud to say that he ministered in 47 of the 50 states - all but Alaska, Montana and North Dakota. He touched hearts all across the nation, singing in over 1400 churches and numerous senior care facilities, many of which he was invited back to on a regular basis. He recorded many albums and cd's, often selling out at the churches he visited. He kept a busy schedule, saying "I'd rather wear out than rust out". He was a regular on several Christian radio and TV stations. One of his favorite highlights was singing the National Anthem at a Pittsburgh Pirates game on April 24, 2007. He is survived by his sister, Marlene Wagner and her husband Ron. Nephew Bill Wagner and wife Kerry. Niece Diane Sample and husband Ken. Nephew Alan Wagner. Great nieces and nephews Billy Baird, Laura Wagner, Russell Wagner, Taylor Sample, Stacie Sample, Jared Wagner and Jonathan Wagner and a great-great niece, Peyton Lawrence. Larry's favorite scripture was Psalms 34:8 - Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him. To know Larry was to love him. Lyrics from a song that fit him best - "If I can help somebody as we pass along, if I can cheer somebody with a word or song, if I can show somebody where they're doing wrong, then our living will not be in vain." There will be a graveside service in St. John's Union Cemetery, 170 Hecla Rd, Mt Pleasant, PA 15666, on Tuesday, January 5 at 1:30 pm. A celebration of Larry's life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family to be donated to various churches Larry was a part of.
