Following her retirement, she returned after 6 months as a substitute secretary with the district, for 10 more years, retiring in 2000. Lois was a very social person, who never met a stranger. She became the first deacon at Trinity United Church of Christ in Youngwood. She enjoyed her friends in the Hempfield Garden Club, where she was treasurer into her 90s. Her card groups gave her many memorable moments. She was preceded in death by her husband William, and 4 sisters, Louisa Richards, Doris Smillie, Harriet Bordnick, and Gladys Richards.
