Lucy K (Pelar) Hastings, 74, of Greensburg, entered eternal life on Monday November 13, 2023, surrounded by family and friends. She was born on February 4, 1949, in Greensburg, the daughter of the late Andrew and Antoniette (Genard) Pelar. Lucy was a teacher and principal at St. Florian's Elementary in United and also a principal at the former Holy Cross School in Youngwood. Lucy also worked and retired from Sheetz. She was Catholic by faith and was a member of Our Lady of Grace in Greensburg and a member of the Westmoreland Autistic Association. Lucy is survived by her loving husband, Charles R. Hastings; her son, Charles A. Hastings, of Greensburg; her siblings, Andrew Pelar, of Youngwood, Susan Joseph, and husband, Rodger, of Eugene, OR. and Charles Pelar, of Acme. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, Nov. 16, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. in the C. Richard McCauley Funeral Home Inc. 101 S 4th Street. Youngwood. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, Nov. 17, at 1 PM. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 1011 Mount Pleasant Road, Greensburg. Interment will follow in the Saint Vincent Cemetery. The family extends a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and nurse Brittney at Independence Westmoreland Hospital and to very close friends, Bonnie and Barbara. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Westmoreland County Autistic Association.
