Mary Lou (Knebel) Allemeier, 93, of Hunker, passed away peacefully on Monday November 6, 2023. She was born on August 9, 1930, in Landeck, Ohio, the daughter of the late Leander "Pete" and Agnes (Hotz) Knebel. In her youth, Mary worked on her family's farm. She was a graduate of St. John Catholic School in 1948. Prior to retirement, Mary worked as a secretary for two attorneys, Lindermoun and Shink for several years. On September 16, 1950, she married Leroy Allemeier. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Youngwood, where she enjoyed singing in the choir for 40 years and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Mary is survived by her children, Anna Overly, and husband Frank, of Connellsville, Kathy Darnell, and husband, Red, of Youngwood, Elaine Darnell, and husband, Rick, of Morgantown, WV., Carla Barnhart of Yukon and Tony Allemeier of Ruffsdale. Mary was a devoted and loving mother and cherished all her 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren's accomplishments. She is also survived by her brother, George Knebel, and wife, Pat; her sister, Pat Schmit, and husband, Jerry; her sister-in-law Doris Knebel and her several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Allemeier; her son, Michael; her sister, Dorothy Knebel; her brother, Thomas Knebel; her son-in-law, Raymond Barnhart and a great granddaughter. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, Nov. 9, from 2-6 PM. in the C. Richard McCauley Funeral Home Inc. 101 S 4th Street, Youngwood. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Nov. 10, at 1:30 PM. in Holy Cross Catholic Church, 711 Depot Street, Youngwood. Interment to follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park. The family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to Medi Home Hospice, especially Diane, Shannon, Kelly and Sue, who was Mary's main care giver for the last 3 years.
