Mary Rita Troup, formerly Krug, of Greensburg, passed away on Saturday December 30, 2023, at the age of 98. She was born on June 5, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late Herman and Emma (Steilen) Scanlan. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Bernard, Russell and Edward Scanlan; her sister, Betty (Pryce) Scanlan; her husbands, William C. Krug and Paul Troup; her grandsons, Brenton Troup and Jeffrey Ament; son-in-law, Glenn J. Ament and daughter-in-laws, Susie Troup and Vita Troup. Rita is survived by her brothers, Ray Scanlan and Richard Scanlan, of Ebensburg; her three daughters, Catherine (Krug) Price, and husband, Jerry, of Greensburg, Carolyn (Krug) Ament, of Jeannette and Connie (Krug) Scarpo, and husband, Ralph, of Greensburg; her stepsons, James Troup, of Arnold, MD., Dan Troup, and wife Rebecca, of Greensburg and Ernest Troup, of California. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Prior to retirement, Rita was employed by ITE in South Greensburg, where she worked in personnel/payroll for 20 years. She was also a member of the Arona Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her large family. Rita was a devoted wife and mother, and will be greatly missed by all of her family. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wed., January 3, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, in the C. Richard McCauley Funeral Home Inc. 101 S 4th Street, Youngwood. A funeral service will be held on Thurs., January 4, at 11 am in the funeral home. Interment to follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park.
