Monica A McIlvain, 72, of Youngwood, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026. She was born on February 3, 1954, in Wheeling, WV., the daughter of the late Bernard and Elizabeth (Jalad) McIlvain. Monica enjoyed traveling the country as a Civil War Reenactor. She was a member of the 11th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment Company 1 Reenactment, a member of The Commonwealth Ancients Band of Music Fifes and Drums and enjoyed setting up at various Settler events. Monica was a talented artist and seamstress. She adored all dogs and birds and was a mother for all the neighborhood children. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, David Moore, of Jacobsburg, OH., Jesse Slutzker (Crystal), of Youngwood; her granddaughter, Abby Elizabeth Slutzker; and her brothers, Bill McIlvain (Theresa), of Covington, GA., and Bob McIlvain (Roxanne), of Houston. She is also survived by her loving former husband, Norman Slutzker. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, April 17, from 6-8 PM, in the C. Richard McCauley Funeral Home Inc. 101 S 4th Street, Youngwood. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 18, at 11 AM, in the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Youngwood Cemetery.
