Richard L "Rick" Craig Jr

Richard L "Rick" Craig Jr., 65, of Youngwood, passed away on August 13, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. Rick was born on February 25, 1958, in Greensburg, to the late Richard L “Dick” Craig Sr. and Shirley J (Crise) Craig. Rick was a graduate of Hempfield Area Senior High School. Prior to his retirement, he worked at Youngwood Metals and later as a Well Tender and Supervisor for Keyrock Energy.  In his younger years he spent time with his numerous friends running around his hometown of Youngwood. Rick was also an avid baseball player and enjoyed golfing. He was a social member of the VFW Post 211 in Youngwood. Rick’s favorite way to spend time was being outdoors. He found a love for hunting and fishing at a young age. Rick always looked forward to going to camp, especially to "Camp October". In most recent years, Rick spent much of his time hunting and fishing on one of his life-long best friend’s property in West Virginia. When he was home, he also found time for gardening, cooking, and speculating about the possibility of Bigfoot all while dealing with his longtime illness. He cherished all the time spent, memories made and laughs he had with his family and friends. Rick will be loved and remembered by his wife of 32 years, Janice (Sullenberger) Craig; son, Michael Craig, and wife, Jonna; son, Lucas Craig, and wife, Stacey; his beloved grandchildren, Cailey, Jacob, Loralie, and Adalynn; and his brother, James Craig. He is also survived by his Aunt Donna (Crise) Grim, his cousin Thomas Grim and numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, August 17th, 2023 from 3-7pm at the C Richard McCauley Funeral Home, 101 S 4th Street, Youngwood. A funeral service will be held the following day, Friday, August 18th, 2023 at 11am in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Youngwood Volunteer Fire Department.
