Ronald R Cassa, 87, lifelong resident of Youngwood, passed away on Thursday November 10, 2022. He was born on July 30, 1935, in Youngwood, the son of the late Joseph and the late Stella (Ciampini) Cassa. Ron was proud to serve his Country as a decorated Seventh U.S. Army Specialist with honorable discharge in January of 1960. He also served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. He was Catholic by faith and was a member of Holy Cross Church in Youngwood. He worked at Robertshaw Controls and retired as a Draftsman from Westinghouse Electric after 29 1/2 years. He then began a second career working in the Westmoreland County Courthouse as a System Analyst. Ron also served as the former Tax Collector of Youngwood Borough. The one thing that brought the most joy and happiness to Ron was his grand and great children. He loved being their pappy. He is survived by his Loving wife of over 60 years, Patricia (Lacey) Cassa; his loving children, Ronald Cassa, and wife, Chrystal, of New Stanton and Cathey Ann Cassa-Hill, and husband, Timothy, of Mount Pleasant; his beloved grandchildren, Courtney, Zachary (Nancy), Noah (Daelyn), Gabbi (Tyler), Emma, Ryan Hill (Jillian) and Lauren Puzzuto (Chris); great grandchildren, Macon, Harper, Rylie Paige, Leo and another baby on the way. His brother, Joseph Cassa (Sallie B), of Landsdale and his sister, Mary Ann Shehr (Hoppy), of Youngwood. Ron is also survived numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved faithful companion, his dog Shadow. In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his sister, Rita Repasky. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, Nov 19, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 711 Depot St., Youngwood. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital in Ron's name. The family extends a special thank you to Bridges Hospice Team, Lisa, Tara, Maura, Marion and Chaplain Steve and his caregiver, Anna for all the kindness and compassion they all showed in Ron's time of need.
